Yes any pcie slot of any size, not standard pci. So it can go it the big pcie x slot that you would normally put a gpu in or the smaller pciex slot, its the same interface just the x is a smaller slot with less lanes..PCieX slot won’t detect sound card. Hi, So if I understood correctly you have the GPUs as they should be in PCIe slot first and third x slot ? Have you tried running the soundcard in the third x slot instead of the fourth x ? PM ..This issue can also happen if you have a PCIe expansion card sound card etc. in the adjacent PCIe slot, which is eating up your PCI Express lanes and making your graphics card to run at PCIe x. So, here also, you can remove the PCIe expansion card and can check that whether the PCIe status of the graphics card reverts to the PCIe x or not..PCIe cards that are larger than the PCIe slot may fit in the smaller slot but only if that PCIe slot is open ended i.e., doesn’t have a stopper at the end of the slot . In general, a larger PCI Express card or slot supports greater performance, assuming the two cards or slots you’re comparing support the same PCIe version..
